Christchurch v Mudeford Swans
Match Result: 1 - 1 Goal scorer: Edward C. Man of the Match: Award to be shared for great team effort! This was a crunch match. When Christchurch met Mudeford Swans on their ground in October 2009 they lost 0 – 4. The boys did not want a repeat performance. The game started at a fast pace and it was end to end play from the whistle. Cam was on form. Within the first few minutes he had a number of chances on goal and was not far from putting Christchurch in the lead with both attempts. Ed then came into the attack and after only 5 minutes had a chance turned away by the goalie. Immediately after this attack Christchurch came back again and this time Ed scored. 1 – 0 to Christchurch. Mudeford continued to attack and Ollie and Luke were strong in defence, chasing every ball to ensure that the goal mouth was not put under pressure. Mudeford had a chance on goal but James, heroically headed it away to safety. Jamie was confident in mid-field making sure that the opposition could not settle. Christchurch continued to keep the pressure on. Half way through the first half Tris made two substitutions. Jamie and Ed came off and Joel and Sunny came on. Immediately Joel was into the attack and very nearly got a goal, it must have been those new boots he had for Christmas!! Sunny took over the role in midfield and he too ensured that Mudeford could not settle into a pattern and get the ball to their front “men”. Cam almost made it 2 – 0 but he hit the post and the ball went out of play for a goal kick. Mudeford took the goal kick and unfortunately after a goal line scuffle in Christchurch’s penalty area, Mudeford scored to make it 1 – 1 just before half time. Christchurch boys kept going. The second half continued at the same fast pace, both teams playing end to end football. Both sides had opportunities. Bradley, in goal, had little to do in the first half but he came into his own in the second when Mudeford pressed for a winning goal. Further substitutions were made in the middle of the second half, with Joel and Sunny leaving the field and Ed and Jamie returning. The last two minutes were frantic. Cam had another opportunity to clinch the winner with a kick that whistled across the goal mouth at one end and then Bradley saved at the near post at the other end. The match finished 1 – 1. Well done boys, a great performance but you deserved the win!. Sunday, January 17

Mudeford Swans v Christchurch
Match Result: 4 - 0 Christchurch went into this game as league leaders. Mudeford were in second position, same points, but having played an extra game. It was a “must win” match. The game started very lively with end to end action. Within the first few minutes James, playing in goal for the first time, made some excellent saves. Christchurch did, however, seem to take control of the game early on and Cam went very close to scoring in the sixth minute. Gus, once again, was strong in defence and turned a defensive move into an attack. He was ablely supported by Sonny. After a sustained period of pressure from Christchurch when both Joel and Brad W had a number of attempts on goal, Mudeford broke out of their own half and attacked the Christchurch goal. Their number 4 came very close to scoring but Christchurch defended well. Unfortunately Christchurch did not get the ball completely away and as a result of some goal mouth confusion Mudeford scored against the run of play in the 19th minute. The game had no sooner started again when a flighted ball into the Christchurch box was not dealt with and Mudeford went in at half time 2 – 0 up. The second half started with Sonny in goal. He was immediately put under pressure and made an outstanding save. Mudeford had by this time grown in confidence, being 2 goals up and not playing particularly well. Ed joined attack and Jamie midfield. Paddy defended well but also took the opportunity to attack. His corner kicks gave Christchurch the chance to peg one back but the ball would not go into the net. Despite the efforts of Christchurch defence, Mudeford made it 3 – 0 five minutes into the second half. The best chance for Christchurch came in the eighth minute when Paddy took a goal kick up to Brad who ran at the goal. He had two chances which were defended well and the ball came out to Luke but it was pushed wide for corner. Further tactical changes were made mid-way through the second half but this was not enough to prevent Mudeford getting another goal. Christchurch kept going and late into the match Brad W was unlucky not to score. The game, however, ended 4 – 0 to Mudeford. Never mind boys seven games and only one defeat. Revenge will be sweet at home later in the season. MAN OF THE MATCH: ANGUS Sunday, October 11

Match Result: 3 - 4
Goal Scorers: Brad, Cameron, Luke, Ed. MAN OF THE MATCH: JAMES To date, this was the most important match of the season. A win would see Christchurch go top of the league. Christchurch attacked from the start determined to win. After a flurry of attacking moves Christchurch took a 1 - 0 lead within 5 minutes of kick off. An athletic goal scored by Brad. Burton did have some possession but were unable to progress out of their own half. After further attacking moves from Christchurch, Cameron made it 2 - 0 after 10 minutes. Christchurch could have made it 4 – 0 with a near miss by Ollie H. and a long range shot by Cameron. With a 2 – 0 lead Christchurch did appear to take their foot of the pedal and Burton came into the game but were unable to get any shots on goal. James in defence, played with confidence and passed a long ball through to Brad who crossed into the penalty area. Ed had a shot at goal which was saved by the keeper and the rebound fell to Luke who “nutmegged” the goalkeeper to make it 3 – 0. The last five minutes of the 1st half were nerve-racking. Burton came to life and had a number of shots on goal. Christchurch defence stood firm and with Breno Reis, in goal, making a number of fine saves. Half time: 0 - 3 Burton started the second half as they had ended the first, attacking from the whistle. Breno denied Burton a goal after 2 minutes by toe-poking the ball round the post. Burton maintained the pressure and had a number of corners but were unable to get the ball in the goal. Christchurch did eventually attack and had their first corner of the second half after 5 minutes. Burton dealt effectively with this and broke from Christchurch’s half. Breno in goal had no chance and Burton scored to make it 3 – 1. Within a couple more minutes Burton had pegged the score back to 3 – 2 and Christchurch needed to take control again. Seeing the opportunity of going top of the league slipping away, Christchurch knuckled down and with great teamwork made it 4 - 2 with a goal by Ed. As in the first half, the last five minutes of the second half were nail- biting. It was end to end action and both teams had the opportunity to score goals and in fact Burton did score a third goal from a corner making it 4 – 3. Christchurch stuck to the task in hand and the defence stood firm to deny Burton the opportunity of getting near the goal. The whistle went for full time, a 4 -3 win to Christchurch. Well done boys!! Top of the league!! Full time: 3 - 4 Sunday, September 27

Match Result: Christchurch 3 v New Milton Eagles 1
Goal Scorers: Cameron, Bradley W (2) From the start the game was end to end. Brad’s first shot on goal was reacted to well by the goalie with a great save and from there on in both teams passed and tackled well. A near miss from a lovely cross by Paddy saw it ricochet off the side of Aiden’s head away from goal. Christchurch conceded the first corner of the match luckily ending in a goal kick. Both teams still evenly matched. New Milton took a cracking shot on goal followed by a great save by Bradley. Angus took the goal kick and launched it up pass the halfway line to Paddy who passed to Brad one touch sent the ball flying into the left hand corner. Half -time: Christchurch 1 – New Milton Eagles 0. Christchurch started the second half off strongly with a great one two between Cameron and Josh followed by a great save by New Milton’s goalie. The second goal came from great teamwork between Brad, Josh and Cameron who saw the ball finally pushed over the line by Brad. Christchurch 2 – New Milton Eagle 0. But Christchurch were soon caught napping as three New Milton players set off with the ball at their feet and no defence in sight. Paddy and Gus made a valiant effort to get back but to no avail Christchurch 2 – New Milton Eagles 1. The final goal came from Josh passing to Cameron whose first shot was saved by the goalie but second follow up shot found the back of the net. Full-time: Christchurch 3 – New Milton Eagles 1. Match Result: Christchurch 9 v Everton 0
Goal Scorers: Paddy (3), Brad W (3), Josh (2), Joel. Man of the Match: Patrick Cummins The team came into this match full of enthusiasm after their first two games resulted in a draw and a win. Christchurch pressurised Everton from the start and within the first few minutes a cross from Paddy produced a chance at goal for Luke, this was closely followed by a fee kick taken by Paddy just outside the penalty box which skimmed the net, with Brad W also going close on a number of occasions. Everton did eventually put together an attack which produced a fine save from Brad C. The action soon returned to the other end of the field and after a number of strikes at goal from Paddy and Brad W, Christchurch took a corner which resulted in an Everton player handling the ball in the box, Paddy converted the resulting penalty. The boys maintained the pressure, a couple of substitutions saw Joel enter the play, shortly after he combined with Brad W down the sideline and forced the Everton goalkeeper into a brilliant save, however, from the corner Brad W made the score 2 - 0. Within minutes Brad W made it 3 - 0, although Everton did have their opportunities these were dealt with by James and Stephen, so successfully that Brad C had only his second touch of the match after 15 minutes making a fine save. In the last few minutes of the first half we scored again after Paddy found the net after an assist from Luke and then Joel showed good ball control and Paddy volleyed into the net for his hat trick to make it 5 - 0 at half time. Half Time: Christchurch 5 v Everton 0 A number of changes were made for the second half bringing Josh into the attack alongside Joel and Brad W with Breno taking over in goal. From the start Christchurch maintained the pressure, Paddy passed from deep in the Christchurch half into the path of a running Brad W who took the chance well to score his hat trick goal and make it 6 - 0. Josh who had come on at half time was determined to make his mark and immediately joined the attack, this paid dividends as he scored a brilliant seventh goal. Further subs were made that saw Ed and Brad C come on and it was not until the tenth minute of the second half that Breno had anything to do, but when called upon he made fine save, pushing the ball round the post. From the goal kick firstly Joel, followed by Luke and finally Josh all had good attempts at goal before Josh secured his brace on his debut to make it 8 - 0. Even though there were only minutes left Christchurch continued forward with Joel determined to get into the action and though he was thwarted on a number of occasions his determination paid off and in the dying moments finally got the goal he deserved to make it 9 - 0. Full Time: Christchurch 9 v Everton 0 CONGRATULATIONS BOYS!!!! 18 goals in three matches, keep up the good work. Wednesday, September 9

Match Result: Christchurch 3 v Bournemouth Poppies 3
Goal Scorers: Bradley, Edward (2) Man of the Match: Luke This was the second match of the season and the first at home. It was good to see not only the parents but other members of the team, Angus and Joel, who turned out to support the players on what turned out to be a cold September evening. Ben will have to put those shorts away for the rest of the season!!!! The team carried forward their enthusiasm from the first match and the game started very lively, initially it was all Christchurch with Brad and Cam having a number of shots on target, the pressure continued which resulted in a penalty being awarded for hand ball, unfortunately it could not be converted and the game remained 0 - 0. The pace of the game was fast and furious and opportunities fell to both sides as Poppies came more into the game; the manager made some tactical changes to combat this. Stephen and Ollie in defence held the Poppies at bay and along with our keeper Jamie making some great saves it remained level to nearly half time when Poppies eventually made the breakthrough. Half Time 0 - 1 At the start of the second half we switched Jamie to outfield and placed Ollie in goal but the game continued at a great pace but the Poppies extended their lead after some goal mouth confusion and an unlucky rebound, 0 - 2. The attitude of the boys was brilliant and they continued to battle, Aidan and Mac making some decisive tackles which prevented any further goals. Five minutes into the half we pegged one goal back through Brad, this seemed to give Christchurch a new lease of life and ten minutes later after continued pressure and many shots on target from Cam, we scored an equaliser through Ed. The last five minutes of the game were nail biting with both teams striving for the winner, all the boys really playing as a team, defending and attacking. With what seemed only minutes to go Poppies got their third goal, but this seemed to drive the boys on, Luke made a decisive intervention in midfield to prevent Poppies scoring a fourth goal, then a short time later he passed to Cam who found Ed to tuck the ball away for the equaliser. Full Time 3 - 3 This was truly an exciting match and everybody concerned I am sure will look forward to the return game at Poppies later in the season. Well done to all the boys a good start to the season, lets keep it up. Tuesday, September 8

Match Result: Rossgarth 0 v Christchurch 6
Goal Scorers were: Cameron (3), Oliver (2) and Luke. A brilliant start to the season for the team to secure this away victory. The game started quickly with a first minute corner for Christchurch taken by Paddy which hit the post and went behind for a goal kick. Some brilliant passing and movement ensured the pressure was kept up on the Rossgarth defence and another excellent corner from Paddy was headed just wide by Ollie. Christchurch continued to push forward resulting in some near misses on goal, a third corner was tipped over the bar by the Rossgarth goalkeeper and then the resultant fourth corner was cleared by their defence to Luke who smashed a shot just over the bar. Christchurch continued the pressure but could not make the breakthrough despite near misses from Paddy, Ed and Cameron, we were also aided by some good defending. Half time 0 - 0 The second half started just as frenetic as the first with a fourth minute strike by Ollie saved the Rossgarth keeper. Christchurch kept the pressure up and some excellent teamwork and talking on the pitch saw Ollie shoot the ball past the Rossgarth keeper for the first goal of our season. More great footwork and passing meant that Christchurch were always looking likely to score a second and this duly came a minute later with a superb strike from Cameron. A third goal followed shortly after with a lovely header by Ollie into the top right hand corner. We continued to dominate and the Rossgarth goal was under a constant pounding with shots either going just wide or being saved by their keeper, but we scored fourth goal courtesy of Cameron shooting past their keeper into the bottom corner. The fifth goal came soon after with a lovely run down the wing by Paddy and a precise cross into the box for Luke to smash past the stricken goalie, another corner from Paddy saw the sixth goal being headed past the goalie by Cameron. The last few minutes saw Rossgarth pushing for a consolation goal but some excellent clearances by Paddy and Ed ensured that Christchurch kept a clean sheet. Final score 0 - 6 Man of the match - Paddy |
