Mudeford v Christchurch
Sunday 9th November 08
A brilliant match to watch this week. The Chrischurch boys started the game as they meant to go on, playing some super fooball, with precision passing and exellent team work. They were well orgnized with a strong defence, an exellent midfield and a super strike force. The first goal came a few minutes into the first half after a mistake by the mudeford defender, and some quick thinking and clever footwork resulted in a super finish by paddy. 1-0 to Christchurch.
The second half started as the first had ended and the exellent team work and movement on the pitch resulted in Christchurch putting the ball into the back of the net for a second time, after a lovely cross into the box and a lovely finish by Luke. Christchurch 2 mudeford 0.
Mudeford mannaged to pull one back towards the end of the second half, even pushing for an equalizer in the last few minutes but Christchurch's solid defending in the form of Ollie and Angus and a few good saves by Jamie ensured that Christchurch finished with a 2-1 win, 3 points in the bag and a brilliant send off for Aj and his last game.

Match Report
12.10.08 Bournemouth Electric u9’s v Christchurch FC Youth U9’s 1st Half Excellent start to the game with both teams passing and defending brilliantly. First corner was taken by Christchurch, crossing unfortunately too wide, closely followed by a near miss on goal. Second corner was taken by Bournemouth Electric, their players well placed around the box, but it was defended well by Christchurch. Second chance on goal fell to Brad leading from a great pass from Paddy, just wide of the goal. Bournemouth Electric get a second corner, taken well crossing right in front of goal with a smashing header right into the top corner of the goal. Bounremouth Electric 1 Christchurch 0. Next chance fell to Christchurch, a great run from midfield by Paddy with a precise pass to Brad in the box who shoots and scores Bournemouth Electric 1 Christchurch 1. Long ball from Ollie just before the half way line to Brad with a great lob over the goalie he scores. Bournemouth Electric 1 Christchurch 2. Bournemouth Electric take a cracking strike at goal with Bradley making a fantastic save. 2nd Half Second half starts exactly the same with both teams fighting hard, Ed takes a cross causing the goalie to make another great save. Gus’s throw-ins were phenomenal as was his defending today throwing the ball straight into the danger area for Bournemouth Electric causing an unfortunate hand ball in the penalty area. Brad steps up to take the penalty but the goalie again makes a great save. The defending by Gus and Ollie was outstanding and the passing and team play by both teams was great to watch. Final Score – Bournemouth Electric 1 Christchurch 2 Sunday, April 20

Christchurch U9s 1 New Milton Town Robins 1
Venue: River Way Well what can I say. We were all devastated. Having been top for so many weeks and having things in our own hands we stumbled at the last. With this draw and Kingswood winning 6 – 1 we have ended up on the same points but 2nd on goal difference. In a game in which the result was going to be far more important than the performance we played a shocking first half and were deservedly one goal behind. We were a different team in the second half and scored through Bubba and then camped ourselves in their half but were unable to get the winning goal. Such a shame and a real anti-climax to the end of such a good season. Scorer Nathanial Tamlyn Sunday, April 13

Greenfields U9s 0 Christchurch U9s 3
Venue – Roko, Kinson This was our penultimate game. With Kingswood winning last week this meant we were top by two points but in the knowledge their two games left were Highcliffe (bottom) and Broadstone (another struggling team.) This match against Greenfields who are 4th would be a strong test for us. We started nervously but always competed well. Greenfields had a lot of possession but it was us cresting chances. Eventually we got the breakthrough with a good finish from Ethan. Bubba added a second and thanks to a great save from Dec we were two nil up at half time. Then the heavens opened and we played the first 5 minutes of the second half in hail. Again they dominated possession but this time they created a lot of chances but a combination of excellent defending a brilliant goal-keeping kept them out. Bubba added his second and our third and it was game over. So very proud of all them. One game to go. Kingswood won 5 – 1 so we have exactly the same goal difference but we still have the two point advantage. Goal scorers Nathanial Tamlyn 2 Ethan Maddocks Sunday, March 30

Christchurch 1 Poole Town 0
Venue River Way This was the first of our three rearranged game and yet another ‘must win’ game if we are to remain ahead of Kingswood. There is just so much pressure on our team and this squad of 8 was the same as had won the R&T Tournament. Tiredness played a huge part in the game. The form we showed in our final game in that tournament had deserted us and we really struggled in this game. All our players were so exhausted and it showed. An inspired passing movement between Ethan, Ollie and Bubba lead to the only goal of the game. Aside from that Jeremy in goal pulled off some brilliant saves including one from the penalty spot. I have to say some better finishing from Poole Town would have meant defeat in this game. Still, as they say on the telly a sign of a good team is one when we pick up three points even when not on our best. So with just two games left we remain top. Scorer Nathanial Tamlyn Sunday, March 9

Everton 1 Christchurch 4
Venue: Everton Rec After are slow starts in the last few games we’d given the team a talk about the importance of a good start and they certainly listened. We were 2 nil up within the first 90 seconds!! After that it would seem anything less than 8 or 9 nil would be a let down and that’s what proved to be the case. We created chance after chance but the woodwork and some very good goal keeping kept the scoreline down. We were disappointed to concede a goal with their own real chance of the game as we had hoped to improve our goal difference over Kingswood. This was a late game and we were straight on the phone and delighted to hear that both Kingswood and Canon Colts only drew. For the first time the league is now all in our own hands. If we win our three rearranged games we’ll win the league. Michael Sunday, March 2

Christchurch 4 Broadstone 1
Venue. River Way It was a very windy day down on River Way which potentially could have led to a very scrappy game but that wasn’t the case. Both teams tried to keep the ball on the floor and pass and this led to a quite entertaining game. We deservedly took the lead through Ollie but they equalised with their only chance in the whole game. Ollie added a second with a superb long range shot and so we went into the break two one up. We completely dominated the second half and added two more goals first from Bubba and then Ollie getting his hat-trick. Its very hard on the boys given we are top but this was one of those games we will look back on if we lose out places on goal difference as we did last year. 7 or 8 wouldn’t have flattered us. Corfe Mullen 1 Christchurch 2
Venue, Corfe Mullen Rec A very hard-fought win against a bottom half team. That’s two wins against them this season and both two one. They seem a better team than their league table suggests. We started on the back foot. We didn’t close them down or challenge and gave them too much time on the ball. They created good chances. We got better though and created a lot of chances but again poor finishing and good goal-keeping kept us out. Eventually Bubba was able to muscle the ball in from a corner and so we ended the half one up. We did much the same in the second though and conceded a lot of possession and they equalised with a very similar bundle in from a corner. We kept at it and moved Olivia up front to support Ollie. This paid off as she was able to score our winner with a few minutes left. Goal scorers Nathanial Tamlyn Olivia Watts Sunday, February 10

Canon Colts 3 Christchurch 1
Venue: Roko A very harsh result on our team but a hard lesson learnt in terms of creating real chances. We started off well and dominated in terms of possession but failed to make it count in terms of goal scoring opportunities. Late on in the half they had some good possession and we failed to clear and it resulted in them taking the lead. A good passing move between Ollie and Bubba led to Bubba equalising within a few minutes so it was one all at half time. The second half was much of a repeat. They got nowhere near our goal for the first ten minutes but when they did they scored two goals within a couple of minutes. We threw caution to the wind and took a midfield player to put Olivia up front with Ollie but it was too little too late. Still makes for a very exciting end to the season with us, Kingswood and Canon Colts all competing for top spot. Goal scorer Nathanial Tamlyn Sunday, February 3

Christchurch 4 Highcliffe Hawks 1 Venue: River Way A very blustery and cold River Way was the venue for this game against Highcliffe. Although have been bottom pretty much all season recent results have suggested a big improvement. We started well and crested chance after chance but failed to hit the target on most occasions. Eventually the breakthrough came with Tom scoring from one of our numerous corners. We started the second half in the same way but this time Nathanial managed to score very early so we could relax a bit. Two further goals from Ollie and then the fourth from Edd (his first of the season so well done!) I was too busy talking to Jay before his game so missed their consolation goal at the end. Highcliffe are a horrible team in terms of fouling, manager time wasting and parents moaning abut every decision but thankfully this could be the last time we play them. Bransgore 0 Christchurch 5
Venue: Bransgore What a difference. This was our best display for a couple of months. Built on the foundation of a very solid defence our midfield three and attacker were given the freedom to pass and run as they had earlier in the season. All the players were outstanding but a special mention to Tom who not only scored 4 from left midfield but contributed so much more. Only note of concern is we’d had no training this week so now we’re wondering whether the players are left to their own devices!!! Good news after the game that Canon Colts had suffered their first defeat of the season. Goal scorers Tom Cole 4 Ollie Balmer 1 Sunday, January 6

Bournemouth Sports Grange 1 Christchurch 1 We played better as a team than we have for some while now but this was a very frustrating game. They scored first with their only attack of substance despite us dominating from the start. We deservedly equalised before half time. They are a very physical team and their referee allowed numerous on and off the ball incidents to go unpunished. He also blew for half time as one of our players was just lining up a shot and then blew the full time whistle just as one of our players was put through one on one with the ‘keeper. Christchurch 1 Kingswood 3
We were a bit concerned about this game given Kingswood were probably the toughest team we’d played this year and we were missing a couple of players. Writing this match report on 6.1.08 so can’t remember too much detail. Kingswood are a good side (they have 4 players in the Bournemouth Academy) but having said that we were poor and they thoroughly deserved the points. Goal scorer. Ollie Balmer Sunday, November 25

Venue. River Way I wasn’t at the came but from all accounts we started slowly (again) and conceded first. We got back into it though and scored 5 goals with two each from Ollie and Tom and one from Ethan. Dec said he played a blinder in goal so he deserves a mention too!!! Broadstone 1 Christchurch 4 (at Broadstone Rec.)
Probably the wrong decision to play this game. Most other matches had been postponed because of the weather but given the slope and Broadstone their manager felt there would be no surface water. The problem was the under 8s played on it just before us so it was like a ploughed field. Broadstone have always been a strong team but they lost a player over the summer and we’d beaten them heavily in a friendly and they’re not doing well in the league. Despite this they played very well and although it was nil nil at half time we could have had no complaints if we’d turned round a goal down. We had the wind and slope in our favour in the second half but still went a goal down. We replied almost immediately through Ollie who went on to get a hat-trick. Nathanial added a 4th to make a scoreline which probably flattered us. Goal scorers Ollie Blamer 3 Nathanial Tamlyn 1 Sunday, November 11

Christchurch 2 Corfe Mullen 1
Riverway, Christchurch Division 15 U9’s A very blustery River Way saw a very hard-fought win against a team much lower in the table. Easily our poorest game of the season but we still scraped the win. We just didn’t seem to dominate and were always second to every ball. When we did pass we cut them to shreds but it only happened a couple of times. Ollie scored the first having been set up by Matt passing the ball out of defence to Tom who passed onto Ollie. Corfe Mullen equalised but there was an instant reply from Ethan. Seeing as refs get so much stick I have to make special mention of Stu our ref. Their manager (and parents) were very disappointing. The shouting was over-the-top; they contested almost every decision and continued arguing decisions even after the play had restarted. Well done for keeping your cool Stu. U9’s away at Branksome
Branksome 1 Christchurch 5 Branksome were lying 6th in the table and we knew Canon Colts (the leaders) were facing the third placed team Kingswood so we went into the game thinking there was a chance we could end up top. In the first half we didn’t compete well at all. We took the lead but Branksome equalised and they created several chances especially from corners. A much better second half performance from us and some very good finishing meant we ended comfortable winners. Goals Tom Cole 2 Oliver Balmer Ryan Pimble & Nathanial Tamlyn Sunday, October 28

Christchurch 2 Cannon Colts 2
River Way First weather-affected game of the season; a very rainy and windy River Way saw the top of the table clash between ourselves and Cannon Colts who had won all of their games so far. We had a dreadful start conceding in the first minute. We didn’t panic though. We kept it together and got ourselves back in the game and drew level before half time. We dominated play in the second half but conceded a very well taken break-away goal. Again we showed great character and created more chances. Eventually a hand ball gave us a free kick on the edge of their penalty area and Ollie put a fantastic shot into their top corner. This isn’t the best we played (nor them I’m sure) but the quality of play from both teams was outstanding given the conditions. Goal scorer Ollie Balmer 2 Sunday, October 21

Highcliffe Hawks 0 Christchurch 9 (U9’s) @ Mudeford Junior School 2nd in div 15
Despite the scoreline this was a very frustrating match. We kicked off about 20 minutes for no apparent reason. Then when we did get going the referee was obviously on strict damage limitation instructions and stopped the game at every opportunity to lecture boys for fouls, foul throws. In addition there were numerous stoppages for their boys to tie boot laces. The constant interruptions did us no favours and we struggled to a 3 nil lead at half time. A much better performance in the second half relieved the tension but it was very sad to see some very dodgy refereeing meant body-checks etc went unpunished. Never an enjoyable experience playing Highcliffe I’m afraid and we’re pleased to leave with three points and no injuries. Christchurch 3 Bransgore 0
Bransgore finished second in our league last year and had done the double over us in two very tight games. Having said that we weren’t too sure what to expect as they had lost a couple of their best players in the summer. We started very well and completely dominated territory but weren’t making the most of the possession. Our passing was poor and the few chances we created were squandered. It was nil nil at half time and whilst our game improved in the second half it took an own goal to break the deadlock. After that the result was never in question and we got two more goals through Bubba. Scorers. Own Goal Nathanial Tamlyn 2 Sunday, September 23

Christchurch 4 Bournemouth Sports Grange 0
We’d recently played Grange at the New Forest Tournament where we had drawn 2 each and then won through on penalties so we knew this would be tough. We started very poorly; didn’t keep positions well and didn’t compete with their (physically larger players.) It was pretty even and we were fortunate to be one nil up at half time through Ollie. A much better performance in the second half and goals from Bubba and 2 more from Ollie made the win look fairly comprehensive. Scorers Oliver Balmer (3) Nathanial Tamlyn 1 Sunday, September 16

Kingswood 2 Christchurch 2
Our toughest game of the season so far. Despite the fact we had beaten them home and away last season Kingswood had finished above us by virtue of goal difference and we knew they had strengthened their squad. They now have 4 players plus the ‘keeper from Bournemouth Academy. We started poorly and held off them and Kingswood created numerous chances but we defended well and Declan had his best game yet in goal. We seemed to be turning it round and were very unfortunate to concede a goal in a goal mouth scramble. We showed good character to equalise with Ryan getting his first goal since coming to us from Burton. The standard of play from both sides was very high. Kingswood scored a second with a good passing move and we equalised through a solo run and shot from Nathanial. Very pleased with the point and very pleased with the character we showed coming back from a goal down twice. Michael Sunday, September 9

Christchurch 3 Greenfields 1
I wasn't at the match as I was helping at the Under 10s but the most telling thing I can say is that within half an hour of the game finishing I had the manager of Cannon Colts on the phone checking he had heard the score right (via the Poole Town manager.) Greenields had won the other league last season so this result will surprise a lot of people. By all accounts we simply passed Greenfields off the park and we would not have been flattered with a much higher scoreline. Goal scorers Oliver Balmer Nathanial Tamlyn (2) |
